　ウィーン・オーストリア アウガルテン美術館での個展からの凱旋帰国展と日本藝術院会員就任記念を兼ねた個展がはじまった。
　大阪は、過去にサーズで2日目に閉店、コロナ禍では直前になって閉店が決まるなど鬼門なのかもしれないが、今回は順調のようだ。
　13日 15:00からはギャラリートークも行われることになっている。

　A solo exhibition has begun, marking both the triumphant return from a solo exhibition at the Kunstmuseum
　Augarten, Vienna, Austria, and the inauguration as a member of the Japan Art Academy.
　 Osaka may have been a devil's gate in the past, with Sards closing on the second day and Corona Disaster closing
　at the last minute, but things seem to be going well this time.
　A gallery talk is scheduled for 15:00 on the 13th.

 
 




 
　松中権氏による特別講演の後、馳浩石川県知事などと共にパナネルディスカッションに登壇させていただいた。
　私の米国留学時代からの友人の多くは、LGBTQに属し私はそのことが当たり前であるかのように一緒に過ごしてきた。
　知り合った1980年代、マイノリティ的な差別はあったにしてもこんな言葉は存在していなかったような気がする。
　私はLGBTQ＋というような表現よりも、本来ならば心の潜在的なものとして、無意識に一人ひとりの違いを認め合うことが大切な気がしている。
　主催した金沢香林坊ロータリークラブのおかげで、多様性という意味を我々に深く考えさせてくれたのではないだろうか。

　I was invited to participate in a panellist discussion with Governor Hase Hiroshi of Ishikawa Prefecture and others.
　Many of my friends from my days studying in the U.S. belong to the LGBTQ community and I have spent
　time with them as if it were the norm.
　In the 1980s, when I got to know them, I don't think such a term existed, even if there was minority discrimination.
　I feel that it is more important to recognize each person's differences unconsciously, as something
　inherently latent in the mind, than to use a term like LGBTQ.
　Thanks to the Rotary Club of Kanazawa-Korinbo, which hosted the event, it may have made us think
　deeply about the meaning of diversity.

 
 


 
　金沢21世紀美術館での巡回展がはじまり、盛大に開会式と懇親会も催された。
　日本藝術院会員となって、初めての公募展出品となっている。

　世界各地の土を混ぜ合わせ、手捻りと輪積みによる成形。大地が形成されるが如く、強制的に乾燥と湿潤を繰り返すことで
　意図的ではあるが、自然で歪なる造形となっている。 焼成は、作品の釉が真っ赤に溶けている際に窯から引き出し急冷する。
　その焼成方法は、地球内隕石のようでもあり、宇宙から飛来する物体のようでもある。
　世界最大規模の Raku焼による造形物でもある。

　The traveling exhibition at the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, opened with
　a grand opening ceremony and reception.This was my first public exhibition since becoming a member of the Japan Art Academy.

　Works to be exhibited at the 63rd Japan Contemporary Art Crafts Exhibition in 2025
 
　Molded by hand built and wheel piling with clay from around the world.
　The clay is forced to dry and wet repeatedly, just as if the earth were being formed, resulting
　in a natural and distorted form, although this is intentional. When the glaze is bright red and melted,
　the pieces are removed from the kiln and rapidly cooled.
　The firing method is like that of a meteorite within the earth, or an object flying from outer space.
　It is also the world’s largest Raku ware sculpture.

 
 

 
　朝4:00過ぎにニューヨークから羽田に着いて、乗り継いで金沢にも戻る。
　午後、MOMA(ニューヨーク近代美術館)国際評議員の40名が我が家を訪問。
　ニューヨークから戻ったばかりの私には笑い話のようでもあるけど、、、
　時差ボケでありながらも出会いに感謝！

　Arrived at Haneda from New York a little after 4:00 AM, and also returned to Kanazawa by connecting flight.
　In the afternoon, 40 members of the MOMA (Museum of Modern Art, New York) International Council visited my house.
　It seems laughable to me as I just returned from New York, but...
　I am thankful for the meeting in spite of jet lag!

 
 

 
　なんて小さな手なのだろう。
　長男夫婦に女の子が生まれた。ニューヨークに行く途中だったので会えなかった。
　可愛がり過ぎて嫌われると思うけど、、、よろしくね♪

　My oldest son had a baby girl. I was on my way to New York so I didn't get to meet her.
　I'm sure she'll hate me for being too cute, but...best wishes...

 
 
 
　45年前、留学中にこの道場で、それも英語で茶道を学んだ。
　それもまるで昨日のことのように感じる。この時の学びが、今も私に大きな気付きを与えてくれている。

　Forty-five years ago, while studying US, I learned the way of tea at this tea room by English. It seems like only yesterday.
　What I learned at that time still gives me great insight today.

 
 
 


 
　裏千家坐忘斎御家元による献茶式が執り行われ、私が茶席を担当させていただいた。
　家元から賜った「慈土」掛軸として、東大寺大仏殿の発掘調査からの土を用いた茶盌を制作し、
　試行錯誤した茶席で全国から627人に及ぶお客様に茶を喫していただいた。
　裏千家とのこれまでの絆に十一代大樋長左衛門として感謝を捧げながら、美術家、僧侶、
　そして茶人という私の人生の生業を理解いただけたならば幸いだ。

　“kenchashiki” (offering of tea is the highest form of offering tea to the Buddha) was held
　by Iemoto Zamozai (grand tea master) of Urasenke, and I was in charge of the tea ceremony.
　I made a tea bowls using clay from the excavation of the Great Buddha Hall of Todaiji Temple as
　the “Jido”( The Soil of Compassion) hanging scroll, which was given to me by the Iemoto,
　and 627 guests from all over the country enjoyed the tea at the tea ceremony.
　While expressing my gratitude as Ohi Chozaemon XI for the ties I have formed with the Urasenke family,
　I hope that everyone have gained an understanding of my life's work as an artist, Buddhist monk, and tea master.

 

 

 
　天皇陛下主催の園遊会に招かれ、幸運にも天皇皇后両陛下からお言葉をいただいた。
　日本芸術院会員に就任できたことをお伝えすると、天皇陛下からは「石川県の作家さんはご無事ですか？」
　皇后陛下からは「恩賜賞受賞後の制作はどのようなものを作られていますか？」などと御下問を受けた。
　その後、秋篠宮様をはじめ多くの皇室の方々ともお言葉を交わすことができて、人生の忘れられない一時ともなった。

　I was invited to the garden party hosted by Their Majesties the Emperor and was fortunate enough to receive a few words from them.
　When I told them that I was able to become a member of the Japan Art Academy, the Emperor asked,
　"Is the artist from Ishikawa Prefecture all right?" The Empress asked me, "What kind of works have you
　been producing since then?" and so on.
　Afterwards, I was able to exchange words with many members of the Imperial Family,
　including Her Imperial Highness Princess Akishino, and it was an unforgettable moment in my life.

 



 
　55年前の大阪万博。
　私はまだ小学校6年生の時で、世界に様々な国があることを知り、長蛇の列から月の石を見た鮮明な記憶がある。
　今回も月の石もあるのだが、火星の石やｉＰＳ心臓など人類の最先端の更なる科学が加わっている。
　また、アメリカ館とフランス館の前の広場には長男の大きな金属作品も陳列されている。
　私は長男夫婦、次男夫婦と2歳の初孫と共に訪れたのだが、55年前の私がまるでタイムマシンに乗ってやって来たような瞬間でもあった。
　日本で次に万博が開催されるのが半世紀後とするならば、私はこの世に存在してはいない。
　だが、今生かされている我々には、明るい未来を次世代の人達のために引き継いでいく責任があるのではないだろうか。

　The Osaka Expo 70 was 55 years ago.
　I was still in the 6th grade of elementary school and have vivid memories of learning about the various
　countries in the world and seeing the moon rocks from a long line.
　This time, the moon rocks are there again, but with the addition of further science on the cutting
　edge of humanity, such as Martian rocks and iPS hearts.
　Also on display in the plaza in front of the American and French pavilions are my oldest son's large metal works.
　I visited many pavilions with my eldest son and his wife, my second son and his wife, and my first grandchild, who was two years old.
　If the next Expo is to be held in Japan half a century from now, I will not exist in this world.
　However, we who are alive today have a responsibility to pass on a bright future to the next generation.

 
　
 
　金沢駅でミャンマーからの学生達が支援金を集めていた。
　彼女たちは、私の友人・竹澤敦子さんが運営するアリス学園の学生達だった。
　何とか皆んな立ち直ってほしい。

　At Kanazawa station, students from Myanmar were collecting donations.
　They were students from Alice Academy, which is run by my friend Atsuko Takezawa.

　志野流は、室町時代に足利義政に仕えた志野宗信を始祖とする香道の流派。
　５日後に21代家元となる蜂谷宗苾氏が、若宗匠として最後に催す聞香会に招かれた。
　客人は、文化人の集まりである日本文化フォーラムの有志で、代替わりの空気が漂う場ともなった。

　The Shino is a school of incense making, whose founder was Sohitsu Shino, who served Ashikaga Yoshimasa
　in the Muromachi period (1336-1573).
　Shoshin Hachiya, who will become the 21st Iemoto in five days, was invited to his last ceremony as a young master.
　The guests were members from the Japan Design Forum and the event was a place where the atmosphere was
　filled with the atmosphere of a change in the role of the young master.

　茶盌制作、講演、作品焼成の実演、そしてそれらを用いた裏千家ハンガリー協会の方々による茶会。
　夜は光栄にもハンガリー日本大使公邸での会食にも招かれた。

　Early in the morning, I traveled from Vienna and went straight to the Mohaji-Nazi University of Arts (MOME).
　The event consisted of a tea bowl making, a lecture, a demonstration of firing the works, and a tea ceremony
　using them by the members of the Urasenke Hungarian Association.
　In the evening, I was honored to be invited to a dinner at the official residence of the Japanese Ambassador to Hungary.2025

　奇しくも今日は17年前に亡くなった妹の誕生日。
　この私の慶事を天国から娘と共に喜んでくれているに違いない。

　Fortunately, everyone was female except for me, and I was able to sit with people from the entertainment industry
